Training during and after pregnancy

What I love about fitness is that it provides opportunities to influence your body in a positive way. What it looks like, what it feels like, what it can do… and this also applies to pre- and postnatal training!

When I was pregnant with Tomas in 2017, I had to swallow some difficult realities. What my body looked like, felt like and what it was capable of was suddenly completely out of the hands of nature. And nature and I didn’t necessarily agree with each other how everything should go. I quickly had to stop my favorite form of cardio, spinning, because of dizziness. Halfway through my pregnancy, strength training also became challenging and in the end I didn’t get much further than pregnancy yoga! This history repeated itself in 2021 when I was pregnant with Kasper.

It is now more than clear to me that you can both surrender to the pregnancy adventure (and recovery) and keep control of your fitness level. The consensus is that it is unwise to try to make progress in your skills. However, you can continue to maintain your current fitness level. And sometimes you have to take a step back. You can immediately work on your mental flexibility. Handy if you have a baby!

From 6 weeks after giving birth, you can carefully start training again, if desired. But because the body needs a long time to lose weight, you can also wait a little longer.

I would like to guide you in continuing to exercise during and after your pregnancy. I have been in your shoes and can tell you with full conviction that both you and your little one benefit from mom being fit. View the rates for personal training here, or scroll down for a sample training.

“I wanted a personal trainer to feel fitter and stronger again after my pregnancy. I am not sporty at all and never went to the gym, but since I started training with Michelle I really enjoy going there. She feels very good what my needs are, she has a lot of knowledge about the body and is also just fun to chat with ;). I like the fact that she is also the mother of a son, because it is nice to have a PT, especially after a pregnancy who understands what the body needs after this period.”
